Acupuncture in pediatrics
In babies, children and adolescents, different massage techniques as well as acupuncture have surprising results. This comes from the fact that their energy is pure, they are very receptive to treatments and therefore only a few sessions are enough. Each child who comes to the clinic requires a slightly different approach and a tailored treatment method. I personalize each treatment to meet your child’s needs. The treatment must be effective, but your child’s experience must also be positive.

The first session
During the first consultation, I will begin by making a precise diagnosis and establishing a relationship of trust with your child. I’ll ask you (and your child, depending on their age) questions about their current state of health and medical history. At the same time, I will observe certain important signs which, according to traditional Chinese medicine, are indicative of your child’s health, such as the appearance of his eyes, the tone of his voice, his complexion and his posture. I will also ask you to allow me to examine your child’s tongue and take his or her pulse. Sometimes it may be necessary for me to palpate the abdomen and back as well, to gain further information.

Creating a relationship of trust
I’m aware that many children can be anxious about their first acupuncture session. My aim is therefore to offer them a calm and reassuring environment where they feel safe. I’ll take the time to talk to your child about their interests in general, but also about school, their friends and their habits at home. Not only does this interaction help to build a relationship of trust, it also helps us to better understand your child’s overall state of health, because a child’s symptoms are never isolated, but form part of their overall reality.
The treatment
Before each stage of treatment, I’ll explain clearly to your child what I’m going to do. He or she may be ready to try needles, but if not, I will turn to other suitable treatment methods (massage, cupping, moxibustion or the little seeds). Children are often reluctant to use needles during their first consultations, but they usually open up very quickly and end up loving them. They are also very proud of themselves when they succeed in overcoming their fear or anxiety. At the start of each consultation, I’ll reassess your child’s condition and adjust the treatment to make it both effective and enjoyable.
Every child is unique, which is why I tailor each treatment to his or her needs. The treatment must not only be effective, but also allow the child to have a positive experience.
I use an acupuncture technique specially designed for children, which is very gentle and painless. What’s more, when I treat a child, I use very few needles and the needles are extremely fine. For children under the age of seven, the needles are inserted and removed immediately. So they don’t have to stay still for long, and it’s more pleasant for them.

Advice on lifestyle
I consider that changes to a child’s hygiene are just as important as the treatment itself and I will take the time during each session to explain to you the adjustments that I feel are essential for your child’s well-being. As parents, we receive a lot of information, which can be contradictory, about feeding, sleeping, breast-feeding, etc. My aim is not to add to your child’s diet. My aim is not to add more injunctions to parents but rather to show you another way of doing things so that you can experience it for yourself and form your own opinion.
Reproduce certain massage movements at home
I often find it very beneficial for parents to be able to repeat certain massages on their child at home in order to reinforce the treatment given at the clinic. I’ll give you all the information you need so that you can feel supported, cared for and listened to.

My desire to specialize in Paediatrics
I have three boys and this has a profound influence on the way I approach my treatments. Becoming a mum has really changed my life and is also the reason why I decided to specialize in paediatrics. I sincerely believe that an imbalance in a child’s Qi, corrected early in life, can have an impact on their mental and physical health, as well as on those around them. A healthy child is a happy child and is therefore better able to fulfil his or her potential. I also believe that, as parents, we are often at a loss when it comes to taking care of our children, and unfortunately, it’s still difficult to find an alternative to the drugs that are given all too frequently.
